Hmm... 2 mins 32 seconds.... that's good right ^^;;?
Kinda went thru hell trying to animate the first 2 fight scenes. but I guess after the sword fight, things shud get a little easier....

At the moment, I'm not putting in any backgrounds due to the time left.
Neither am I planning on voice overs, yet. Will get that sorted out once I've finished animating.

And I've thought about a DVD cover design, really wanna get that done too :). It's gonna be super cool xDD.

And with 3 cans of V left... and what... 5.5 days left? Hope I'll get it done in time >w<;;

Animation Softwares and Inspirations

I was looking up for some animation softwares.
And I stumbled across RETAS Pro HD. A software which is used by most animation companies in Japan. It looks pretty neat, but I wonder if I have enough time to learn how to use it.

Then there's the Anime Studio.
I've also got that software, and after fiddling around with it.... it looks soo... cheap.... like some sort of a rip off software hahahaha.
But after watching this video:

I have to rethink about it's capabilities ^^;; hahahaha.
P.S I really like how they animate Rose Agent (I.e the woman in the Anime Studio video, it's soo smooth and has a mixture of Disney with anime, I was thinking of Mulan hahahaha!)

Apart from that, I went digging deeper for more Anime Studio info on youtube.
And I came across a studio group name Studio 4Degrees. And this is one of their works that really caught my eye:

The animation style is soo... well.. it's like a combination of Gorillaz and Anime. hahahahaha. That's why it caught my eye. Really love the style. and whoever chose the music for the last bits (i.e 5 min in the video) is awesome ^^! Oh gawd... I really can't wait to start my final project now. But then again, what's holding me back is the learning of RETAS HD Pro, and solutions for "what if I can't do it and wasted heaps of time?" "What are my backdoor/safety solutions if I can't familiarize Retas in time?" ^^ Well, lets hope all goes smooth :)

Project 3 - Research

Hey guys, sorry for not updating my blog lately..
Been realll busy with stuffs... such as the document =___=''
Anywayz, after reading the 3rd Brief over and over again. I finally realized what we have to do D:.... was kinda off topic for the pass few days thinking of stupid creepy ideas... oh well whatever. Here's my research :D

I find LED lights very attractive, and this one is done using a PC Cooling Fan + LED lights on it... no I'm not making it for the installation, just thought we could do something like this on PC hahaha.

GAH I really love LED lights *w*;;;

I like how they made the building look like wireframes from Maya or something.

Project 3 - Exhibition Installation iDeas

w00t... sorry for not writting this during class on Monday.
Still preparing heaps for the pre-production document X___x;

Anywayz.
Project 3 is a very interesting project. Sounds more like an interior architecture project than a multimedia one. But oh well. Here goes.

1. Maze Idea:
I was thinking during the entrance, we give the audiences a short maze to the center of the room. While walking thru that maze, we blast em with an eiry like ambience BGM. Making it creepy and so on. As they approach the center, the eiry like BGM slowly fades away and in the center of the room, the BGM changes to something sort of like a "safe house" a sense of relief yet discomfort", and there are many paths in the center which leads to each of our exhibited piece of work. :).

2. Invisible Idea:
I got this idea from a youtube clip I saw.
Basically we turn the walls to look "invisible" and behind those walls are our exhibit. Mmmm... I don't really know how to explain it but I sure can visualize ppl smashing into those walls not realizing it's fake ^^;;... HAHAHAHAHAHA!

3. Culture Jamming:
Troy told me to do culture jamming since I like culture jamming ^^;;.
But I'm still thinking about it... not much ideas about it yet =\.

Oh well, that's about it, more to come soon ;P.

I finally got my idea.
Imma make an animation about 2 girls fighting for a cake.
Have u guys watched Keroro? They like to use gundam in their fighting scenes or stuffs related to it. There's a fan made parody about Keroro vs Gundam:

It's a very good example of how my fighting scenes will be. Some wild crazy stuffs hahaha.

The disgaea trailer is also a great example of how my animation will look like. Something wild and funky + K-On + Lucky star style. we'll see how things turn out hahahahaha.

To be honest....
I really have got no starting point at all to what I wanna do...
There's soo many things that I'd like to do for this project, yet I can't narrow it down to one point at all....

And seeming that I have a very VERY poor narrative skills (telling/creating a story), it makes it even harder to come up with a plot or script.... Or maybe I've just hit an art block over the Easter break =___='''... Well w/e it is... I hope it goes away... I can't bare to see myself slacking till the last minute again...

One of my friend did suggest me to get an editor(?) to give me a plot.
But there are a few issues I'm afraid of:
1. Money (nothing's free in this world =__=, and yes, I'm being a cheap bastard :D!)
2. Is plot suitable (what if don't like the plot?)
3. Time management (Can I really trust them with writting plots in time?)

I think I better stick to writting the plot myself.... it'll take a bit of time.... but at least I can avoid those issues when it comes to getting an editor to help u do the plot job.

Research Project 2 (Part 2)

Remember how I said I wanted to do something like Lucky Star?
Well a friend of mine (Winston) introduced me to a new anime.
It's called K-ON. About 4 high school girls in a music school and they have no knowledge of music at all ^^? I wonder if it's true, I haven't watched it yet, but he showed me the opening of it and the animation looks fantastic. Very smooth.... must've taken heaps of frames to do that =__='''

Flipping technique:
Here's a cool example about how this guy uses a very easy method to produce a very cool animation :D

Note that he uses 6 frames to loop, and the mouth animation/sync voice is made separately, rather than drawing ALL the frames X___x;;;

=___=''' damn this holiday... really making me slack a lot D:...
With all these sleep in-s till 1 p.m, kiling half of my day, and the rest of the day staring at the computer surfing www.i-am-bored.com I really REALLY need to get working now <__<;;; GAH!

Anywayz, I've decided on what I'll be doing, I want to make an animation, anime style of course, yes you heard me. It is something that I really wanna do, I really REALLY wanna do. Knowing that my future may end up in some animation industry (it's just a dream ^^) or stuffs.. I really wanna do 2D animation and all that frame drawing stuff. so yeah...

Story wise... =\... I'm not really good in creating stories... especially since I don't read much books =__='' just picture books hahaha. But my starting point is "Makoto Shinkai". His stories are short yet powerful, animation technique is very very dazzling and jaw dropping. But then again.. I felt like making something random.... something like... LUCKY STAR HAHAHAHAHAHA! maybe I shud go interview Melbourn-nians about life in Australia or something. w/e... har har har

Language of my animation would probably be something other than english. For some reason, when Troy showed us that work about dogs getting their ears burnt or something (made by a past year student), the language was in Korean and it had this weird... feeling... like..... it matches the animation perfectly... I know it's a weird thing.. you'd probably won't understand wat I'm saying. But yeah, just know this, NO ENGLISH D:! (except for subtitles or if things goes bad).

Yeap... that's about it for now... more updates to come :D!

Project 2- Self Directed Theme Ideas

Today, we were given our Project 2's Brief.
And we're told to submit 5 ideas on our blog by the end of today's class.
So here we go: :)

1.Creating a Short Story Animation:
- I've always loved creating either comedic(?) animations, emotional ones or those that have a fun twist at the end (Like my last year's Interactive Comic project). Yeah. So I'll probably write up a little script for this. Most likely to be emotional ones cuz I've been doing too much comedic ones lately hahaha.

2.Creating a Game Concept:
-It's fun to create a game concept. So I'll probably give it a try :).

3.Create an opening sequence for an animation.
- No matter when or where I am, I always like to imagine graphics sync-ing with music. It's like a hobby to me or something hahahaha. I'd like to try making some opening sequence to an anime too :D.

4.Create a Trailer for an animation:
-Same reason to Idea No.3. But making a trailer instead.

5.Design a game:
-Ever since coming to Monash and 1 trecherous year of hardcore Flash scripting last year, I've kinda liked Actionscripting for games now :). So maybe I'll make a game. No idea what's it gonna be, but I'll update my ideas when things come into mind.

I was just looking into some animation technique.
And I just can't help but to share this video with all you people.

Mmm.. it'll probably make more sense for Metal Gear Solid fans, but yeah, it's funny ^^. xD

I'd like to try flip animation for this project.
Sort of like this one:

I know it's a lot of work to do.. and drawings and stuffs.... perhaps I even have to color it. But I'd really like to work with this technique :). It seems more... dynamic.

Wohoooo, first entry :D.
This blog will be dedicated for my Multimedia and Digital Arts research.
Hope you all will enjoy it and get inspired with whatever crap I find :).

Our first project is POSTHUMAN. And we have to create a 1 minute animation about a topic relevant to Posthuman, such as ways mobile phones have changed our lifestyle, or cybernetic parts installed into human body to fix their disabilities.

One of the idea that came across me is Online game interactivity.
Since I got sucked into the game called Mabinogi and it really changed the way I live <__<;; from sleeping time to eating habits. hahahaha..... suck doesn't it? I'm wasting my life infront of a computer.

I guess I'll make a short film about how online game changes the way people communicate with each other? Such as short abbreviated words used online (ie. LOL = Laugh out loud) or so.

Alister gave me a great start :). He said why not make an animation about 2 people on an "online" date in the game, and they're using all these "online" chat words to communicate with each other, and in between them is a wall. The wall symbolizes the unreal date that they're going through or something... I need more thought for this <___<;;;
